Our Small Groups

Men's Ministry: For several years the church has hosted a men's group on Saturday mornings from 8-9am. Presently, the group is viewing a video series entitled, "The Measure of a Man", by Gene Getz at the church. On the first Saturday of each month, they meet for breakfast at the All American Cafe on Main Street in Keokuk. The church also has a men's committee to attempt to involve more men in the ministry of the church. The group plans periodic outings and outreach events.

Women's Ministries: Over the years, the church has conducted small groups, Sunday School classes, and retreats for women. In recent years, our church has sponsored trips to the nationally renowned "Women of Faith" conferences.

Care Groups: The purpose of these groups is to care for one another through Bible Study, sharing, and prayer. The congregation is divided into 5 groups which meet weekly. All regular church attendees are invited to participate in a group. Care Groups also conduct some mission projects. For example, some of the groups are collecting money to purchase Bibles to be given out during the church sponsored medical mission trip to the Philippines.

Elective Small Groups: These groups are initiated by our own people and are not set up by the church. The leadership does, however, encourage parishioners to join these small groups. Present small groups include: a Beth Moore video group on the book of Daniel; "Be a Fruit-Bearer", a group on the fruits of the Spirit; Bible Turtles, a women's group presently studying "Growing in Prayer".

Prayer Groups: Although the church does not have a regular mid-week prayer meeting, several small groups of prayer are conducted through the week. One group meets on Friday mornings at 9:00am at the church. A ladies prayer group meets on Sunday mornings at 8:15am. The Deacons meet for prayer on Sundays at 8:30am.

Addicts Victorious: This is a Christ-centered support group for those struggling with addictions, fears, and everyday problems. Quite a few have experienced total freedom from addictions and have found Christ as their personal Savior. Some of these folks are coming to our church on a regular basis. Addicts Victorious has proven to be one of the most effective outreach programs in our church's history. The group meets on Thursday evenings at the church from 7-8pm.

Parenting Class: For over 10 years, our church has hosted a community parenting class which is not affiliated with our church but is led by one or our parishioners. Since many of these young people do not have church homes, our congregation has attempted to reach out to them through the parenting class and church events. Most recently, a small group Bible study is being offered to members of this class.

Divorce Care: This is a small support group ministry that is designed to help persons cope with the trauma of divorce. This group combines video teaching with group discussion. It meets on Monday evenings at 6:00pm at the church.
